Re: Re: Philips IS2630 webphone - Transferring an Inferno load to flash

Procedure for Transferring an Inferno Load to Flash

To load an INFERNO into Flash the following must be done:

1. A copy of the Shannon Boot Loader must be pre-installed in the flash in the bottom block

2. Insert the devices in a working Shannon model that is connected to a PC

3. On the PC, go th the directory the files are located in

If Auto-Boot is active on the devices the following procedure must be followed to gain control:

4. At the prompt, type: armsd -remote -port n - line 38400

5. Hold in the controller manual reset button and hit <CR>

- This establishes the presence of a remote port to the StrongARM

- The debugger should appear on the screen

6. Kill the current DOS window and open a new one

7. Go to the directory the files are located in and type: armsd -remote -port n - line 38400

- This will establish the serial port connection between the PC and StrongARM 8. At the prompt enter the following sequence:

prompt: enter:

armsd: pc=0x40

armsd: go

>>> P 0

>>> c D!build[n].fs F!fs (copies file system from the PC to Flash, replace [] with curly braces)

>>> c D!build[n].gz F! kern (copies the kernel from the PC to Flash)

To boot Inferno, manually:

prompt: enter:

armsd: pc=0x40

armsd: go

>>> b F!kern (boots kernel on the Flash)

If auto-boot is desired, enter the following sequence after the download has completed

prompt: enter:

armsd: pc=0x40

armsd: go

>>> PI Sboot

Note:

-The download procedure takes 20-30 minutes %*

-It may be that this procedure is valid only for PCs with Windows 95.
